THE BEAUTIFUL WORLD OF TEA.

HISTORY AND ART

Chinese legend has it that in 3000 BC, Emperor Shen-Nung was resting with his entourage in the shade of a large tree. A bowl of water was brought to him to quench his thirst. The breeze that was blowing at that moment caused some tea leaves to fall into his bowl. The water turned golden and a delicious scent emanated from the bowl. The Emperor felt refreshed and relaxed when he drank the drink. At that moment, the emperor let out a cry: “T’sa”, which means “the divine”. To this day, in Chinese, tea is called “cha”.

It is said that from then on the Emperor encouraged the Chinese people to cultivate the tea plant and prepare the infusion as an everyday drink. Over time it spread throughout the world due to its promise and its great contribution of health benefits.

Camellia Sinensis, of Chinese origin, is a shrub that can reach a height of 3 to 4 meters, which is produced in moderate or even frozen climates and can live up to 100 years. Camellia Assamica is a plant that can reach a height of 15 to 20 meters. This variety grows in tropical climates, has larger leaves and has a productive life of about 40 years.

There are people who enjoy tea as a drink to quench thirst, while others associate it with complicated rituals and a deeper meaning that is shared around a cup of tea.
